For 5 decades, Sunny Acres Sports Systems (SASS) has adapted to changing playing fields, but our commitment to quality and integrity remains unchanged. Over the years, our own team has built something even more durable than our synthetic and natural turf systems… a reputation for excellence.

In the early 60’s our founder, Lester J. Belcher, Jr. launched our business. As a General Contractor, he expertly managed his share of high profile municipal projects, including those for the U.S. Naval Academy and the Maryland State Highway Department, while continuing to provide service to commercial and residential markets.

Les, Jr. brought his son, Les, III on board to coach our own team two decades ago. Les, III brought considerable management skills to the table. To date, he’s logged a successful 31 year track record specializing in landscape contracting, site development, excavation, home building and specialized drainage and grading projects.

Last year, Operations Manager Brian O’Neal joined our executive team, bringing more than a decade's expertise in the synthetic turf industry. Brian serves as each project’s manager, coordinating and managing the details in the field. SASS’ primary interface with clients, Brian lends personalized, dedicated service.

Today, SASS draws upon decades of proven experience to design, build, install and maintain synthetic and natural playing fields, serving as General Contractor for 11 design/build turf projects in Anne Arundel County alone. Our service area stretches across Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Ohio, Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. Our mission is to help sports venues, colleges, city and state municipalities, school boards, little leagues and residential clients get in the game of every sport under the sun.

Over the years, our company’s key asset remains our winning team. Each day we come to work with a shared vision: to level the playing field with precision, from inception to completion. Our full service capabilities include the management of each phase from preconstruction to completion, including design/build, base construction, installation and maintenance.
